A parking attendant ( PEO ), traffic controller (British English), parking inspector (Australia and Zealand New), or civilian enforcement officers are members of departments or traffic control agents who issue tickets for parking violations. The term parking attendant is sometimes considered synonymous but is sometimes used to refer to different parking officers' professions.
Even where parking meters are no longer used, the term meter meter and meter helper are still used daily or formally referring to PEO women and men.

Meter Surfers Paradise Meter was introduced to the world in 1965 by local businessman Bernie Elsey to provide a positive round on parking regulations. Instead of issuing tickets for expired parking, Meter Maids distributes coins to the meter and leaves the calling card under a glass eraser from the vehicle.
Originally introduced as countermeasures against the unpopular parking meters installed the year before, Waiters are known for their gold bikini outfits and (now dead) tiaras.
The parking supervisors who issued tickets continued to patrol the streets to enforce parking regulations, and the Gold Coast City Council installed a voucher-dispensing parking engine in a traditional parking lot, leaving the 'helper meter' unable to charge the meter to protect the vehicle from being fined by the inspector parking.

In Canada, the task of parking enforcement is often handled under law enforcement umbrella by law enforcement officers. There are no fixed jurisdictions where the person employed for the purpose of enforcing the traffic rules is referred to as the "meter helper" and the fewer "parking enforcement officers" there are. Most officials who have worked as PEOs are now used to perform various law enforcement tasks, often including animal control or other enforcement of regulations. The position is increasingly upgraded to a more professional position of law enforcement officers. The general duties of law enforcement officers include parking enforcement, property and zoning regulations, and general behavioral arrangements of people in public. Officer Bylaw, however, has only the power to issue a civilian quote as punishment for most violations of municipal law.
The cities of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver still employ officers with parking enforcement officers. In the case of Montreal and Toronto, the PEO is a sub-division of the respective police: Montreal SPVM (where they are nicknamed "leek" because of their previous green uniforms) and the Toronto Police Department (where they are nicknamed 'blue bees' because of uniform lines their blue, which is red on a police officer's uniform). In the case of Vancouver, PEO is a municipal employee, not affiliated with the Vancouver Police Department.
Canadian parking enforcement officers are the temporary peacekeepers' interim in the execution of their duties and as far as that is required for the execution of their duties, even if they are not sworn in by officers or police. In New Zealand, the local council employs a Parking Officer or Parking Compliance Officer. Penalties for various offenses are much lower than many other places around the world, with fines as low as $ 12 for minor offenses. However, harassment and violence against the warden still exists and the body warns the camera's use by Officers is on the rise as more and more councils are adopting it. Parking officers in New Zealand impose violations, including anything related to payments and display meters, WOF and LL, street markings and signs, bus lanes, parents parked illegally at school gates, and trailers and vehicle investigations abandoned. United Kingdom
In the United Kingdom (UK), traffic warden has historically been employed by territorial police forces to assist with traffic management and parking regulations. Parking officers were recently introduced by local authorities to pursue enforcement of discriminated parking. The overzealous allegation of parking attendants is likely because high-pressure management is focused on delivering a number of tickets per day, leading to allegations of corruption and illegality. It brings allegations that their real purpose is to increase revenue for local authorities rather than keeping traffic moving. Those who accept fines argue that "punishment is incompatible with crime," pointing to the size of fines imposed for small parking offenses compared to fines generally issued for more serious motor offenses or other offenses such as shoplifting. Public dislike of parking officers in the UK in such a way that they were stabbed, received death threats, and had pulled out the poker and cotton vests to take DNA samples when community members spat on them, for prosecution later.
Law enforcement that deals with motor vehicle parking in the UK may be the responsibility of one or more of the following persons:
Civilian enforcement officers (England, Wales, Scotland), including formerly known as parking attendants (whose job may still be limited to parking violations or may now be extended to other road traffic considents in which local authorities have selected to do so), employed by local authorities or contractors who provide their services to local authorities. Since the emergence of parking enforcement has been decriminalized, they have replaced the traffic warden as the main enforcement of parking regulations. They have the power to issue a penalty notice (PCN) for parking violations handled by ss.63-79 Road Traffic Act 1991; in areas where their duties have been extended beyond parking attendants, they may also issue PCNs for parking violations that come under other laws such as fully parked street parking or separate vehicle trailer parking or skip.
Traffic officers (Northern Ireland) issued notice of a parking penalty offense (ie civil penalty not a criminal penalty) for the Road Service using strengths based on the Traffic Management (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.
Traffic Controllers are employees of the police force and are primarily responsible for general traffic control using the powers available to the authorized persons as defined in the Road Traffic Act 1988. Their use for parking enforcement is less common since the advent of parking of unlicensed parking which in many areas transferred the enforcement of violations of modest parking in controlled areas for local governments; any other parking violations involving penalty points and/or those that do not involve the 1991 Act (or equivalent in Northern Ireland) may still be exercised by the traffic warden. Traffic controllers at the Metropolitan Police can be promoted to traffic warden supervisors, traffic control supervisors, supervisors of senior traffic supervisors, and supervisors of area traffic controllers.
Officer traffic of the Highway Agency (UK and Wales) operates under the 2004 Traffic Management Act and has various powers to handle vehicles on "relevant roads" (especially roads and main roads) other roads will be treated as a parking violation by the police or local authorities; this includes the power to remove the vehicle.
The power to deal with parking violations on the highways is generally still available to police police.
