John C. McGinley appeared in six episodes as Tom Card, Michael's original CIA trainer. Taryn Manning appeared in one episode as one of Fiona's fellow prisoners. Jere Burns and Kristanna Loken returned to the series for several episodes as Anson Fullerton and Rebecca Lang, respectively. Lauren Stamile and Alex Carter also return to the series as Dani Pearce and Jason Bly, respectively. Faran Tahir appeared in the third episode as Ahmed, a cruel Lebanese agent. William Mapother appeared in the sixth episode as Garret Hartley, a mercenary hired to kill Barry (Paul Tei). Richard Burgi appears in the seventh episode as a villain who has targeted Evan (Brando Eaton), troubled son of Sam's new sugar momma, Elsa (played by Jennifer Taylor). Angà ©  © lica Celaya became a guest star in this ninth episode of the season as Angela Flores, a woman whose lover is accused of illegally trading weapons on the black market. Chad Coleman appeared in the tenth episode as Brady Pressman, a CIA agent who, having failed in his mission to capture Anson alive, hopes to improve things. Also appearing in the tenth to twelve episodes is Kenny Johnson as Tyler Gray, the trigger behind the death of Michael's brother.
Patton Oswalt and Sonja Sohn each have guest appearances during the winter. Oswalt appeared in episode 14-16 as Calvin Schmidt, a smuggler who contacts with the team to help escape from the country. Sohn plays Olivia Riley, a high-ranking CIA director who "literally [writes] a book on counter-intelligence training and procedures," and she appears repeatedly beginning with the thirteenth episode.

Production
The sixth season, consisting of 18 episodes, was ordered by the USA Network on April 16, 2010. This announcement comes more than a month after the fourth season finishes airing. The season begins in the summer of 2012. Jeffrey Donovan states in a pre-season interview that one of the old characters of the show will die during this season.
Matt Nix wrote the first episode of the season, the twentieth credits for this series. This episode was directed by Stephen Surjik; it is the honesty to direct the seventh to Burn Notification . The serial star Jeffrey Donovan directs one episode as well, the second from the series and the first since season 4.
