Plot
Ian Wyndham (Nicholls) is a British businessman who lives with his girlfriend American musician, Samantha Andrews (Hewitt), in London. Takes us through the day at Ian and Sam's life, the movie opens by showing events like Sam burning in the kettle, Ian's watch broke, Sam got Coca-Cola on him and Ian was distracted by Sam during an important meeting at work.
Sam is mad at Ian because he always treats her as a second priority and tells her that she just wants him to love her. Ian made one last attempt to make peace with Sam. An angry Sam walks into a taxi and asks Ian if he will come in or not. The taxi meets with an accident and Sam dies. The heartbroken Ian returns to his apartment, finds Sam's notebook and opens it, finds the song he is working on. He fell asleep gripping the notebook close to him.
When he woke up the next morning, he heard Sam speak and see him in bed right next to him. He was scared at first but after the initial confusion, Ian came to the conclusion that the previous day must have been a dream. Ian was happy to have Sam by his side.
The next day's events are similar to those he has experienced in dreams, though they happen at different times and in different ways. Ian is sure that he has a hunch and that the end of the day will be the same and Sam will die. Sam gets Coca-Cola spilled on him. But Ian's watch keeps working. After talking to the taxi driver he realized that the driver was the man of the dream who asked Ian to love Sam.
After convincing him to go with him, they travel to the rural town of Ian. In the town below, the two were drinking and Ian told Sam about his father, who lost his beloved job before becoming an alcoholic and died some time later. Both trips back to London and Ian took Sam on the London Eye as another surprise. They then travel back to their apartment and Ian takes a page from his notebook and takes it to the nearest photocopy shop while Sam travels to his concert with his violin. Before the show begins, Ian gives the photocopied page to an organizer. After the show where Sam was a violinist, the organizers announced Sam's name as the next player. The nervous Sam stepped onto the stage as the orchestra began playing the song printed on Pierre's photocopier. He sings the song he wrote for Ian in his notebook and the crowd applauded his appearance.
Instead of going to Tantra, the restaurant Ian had ordered, they went to the more intimate restaurant that Sam chose, but Ian also liked it. Ian gave him a bracelet with a meaningful charm. They had a great time. After dinner, as they both stand outside of Tantra, where they eat in a dream, Ian tells Sam why he loves her. When the taxi stopped and Sam came in, he asked again if he went in or not. This time Ian came in and saw that the taxi driver was the same again. When it was 11 o'clock, the cab met with an accident.
The same scene is repeated again, when Sam's friend is shown running in the hospital corridor. Just this time, unlike a dream, Sam who sits and cries instead of Ian, implies that Ian died in the accident.
The movie ends with Sam's montage packing up the apartment he shared with Ian while looking at his watch, finally reaching the top of the mountain he tried to ride with Ian while stopping at the cabin they stopped at, and then performing on stage while wearing a bracelet Ian gave with water eyes in his eyes but smiling..
