Alan Cameron Walker (1865-1931) is an Australian architect and philanthropist, born in Hobart, Tasmania. John Walker's grandson, he was educated at Hutchins School and an apprentice to Henry Hunter. He produced many other governments and buildings in Tasmania during his career, as well as a keen silversmith who served as President of the Tasmanian Arts and Crafts Society for 25 years. He is the first President of the Tasmanian Architects Registration Board.

Kehidupan

Walker was born in 1865, the fourth son of Herbert Walker. He was educated at Hutchins School.

Walker apprentice to Henry Hunter. After completing his apprenticeship, he studied in England under Professor Roger Smith and later worked for Sir Banister Fletcher to record sketches of historic British buildings. He was accepted as a partner for the Royal Institute of British Architects and after returning to Australia he worked for the Ellerker & amp; Kilburn in Melbourne. He then worked alone, during which time he served on the board of the Royal Victorian Institute of Architects. He returned to Tasmania in 1895, 6 years after marrying Mabel Robertson. In Tasmania he designed several major public buildings, as well as overseeing major additions to St David's Anglican Cathedral, and was active in the arts community. He married Daisy Hook's second wife in 1922. He died on December 12, 1931 from Valvular's heart disease.

Death

After his death, his will was valued cleanly from Ã, Â £ 31,565 . His will was submitted to the Court of Appeal by his wife, Daisy, on whether the 1,000-pound annuity he left behind required him to stay at his home in Huonden. When he failed, the appeal was then submitted to the Advisory Council, but was dismissed.

Silversmithing

Walker is famous for his success in the field of silverware, though he does it primarily as a hobby. The coffee pot that he made was on display at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
