Robert B. "Yank" Heisler Jr. (born July 4, 1949, died April 11, 2017) is chairman of the retired KeyBank, the 12th largest bank in the United States by total asset, retired chief executive officer of McDonald Financial Group, and is dean of Kent State University's College of Business Administration and the Graduate School of Management until 2011. The Kent State business school under the leadership of Heisler was selected by The Princeton Review for the 2009 list of business education programs in the United States. In 2005, he was appointed to the Inside Business Hall of Fame.

Early life and education
Heisler grew up in Ravenna, Ohio, about 40 miles southeast of Cleveland. He is an all-star athlete in golf, basketball and soccer in Ravenna High School from 1962-1966, winning a back-to-back Country Championships in junior golf and senior year. He was inducted for his athletic achievements to Ravenna Raven Hall of Fame, which also recognizes his business leadership in the future.
He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Harvard College in 1970 and obtained a master's degree in business administration from Kent State University in 1974. In addition, he has also attended the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University, Commercial Loans University of Oklahoma School, Executive Management Program Executive Bank of Fuqua School of Business and the Harvard Graduate Business School Program for Management Development.

Careers
After graduating from Kent State with an MBA, Heisler entered into banking with a former Goodyear Bank in Akron, Ohio. In October 1976, he became assistant vice president of the Corporate Lending Review Division for the Second National Bank in Ravenna, an affiliate of the Society Bank (the predecessor of KeyBank). In less than two years, in January 1978, he was elected president and chief executive officer of the Second National Bank.
In September 1982, he was elected vice president and senior regional manager for the National Society of Banks. In January 1984, he was appointed president of the Akron District. He was elected as executive vice-president of the bank in August 1986 and deputy manager of Retail Banking Group. In May 1990, he was elected senior executive vice president and was appointed deputy chairman of the National Society Society in January 1993.
In March 1994 when the Society and KeyBank joined forces, Heisler was sent to Seattle, Washington, to lead seven state banks in the capital markets and commercial banking product lines. In June 1995, he was appointed president and chief executive officer of the National Society Bank, which would later be renamed the KeyBank National Association (N.A.) after the merger was fully integrated. Later he will also increase the title of KeyBank Chairman.
Heisler was appointed CEO of McDonald in December 2004, replacing Robert "Bob" Jones who was left to become President and CEO of the Old National Bank. However, Heisler will retain the title of KeyBank N.A chairman. He will become the last CEO of McDonald's, which was eventually sold to the US investment arm of Swiss banking giant UBS AG in 2007. Heisler was instrumental in negotiating with UBS.
In September 2008, Heisler was named dean of the College of Business at Kent State University. He was previously a temporary vice president for business and finance for the university.
He has been a member of the board of directors for FirstEnergy Corporation, an electric utility company based in Akron, Ohio, since 2006. He previously served on the FirstEnergy board between 1998 and 2004.
Community
Heisler is chairman of the NEO Team, regional economic development organization in Northeast Ohio, from 2004 to 2008. He remains on the advisory board of the NEO Team.
He served on the Championship Committee for NEC Invitational at Firestone Country Club, Greater Cleveland Growth Association, Center for Families and Children, Ronald McDonald House. He also serves as the treasurer of the Music Art Association, and as a trustee on the board of the Union Club, Unlimited Business Volunteers, Kent State University Foundation (chair), Ohio Athletic Association Foundation, and president of the Cleveland Leadership class from 1993.
