Mervyn John Lees (1932-2018) was a former Australian rugby league player in the 1950s. He is the center of the inaugural victory with St George Dragons and state representatives.

Careers
Merv 'Smacka' Lees played five seasons at St George Dragons between 1953-1958 and began his rugby league career at Banksia Waratahs R.L.F.C. as a child. He went on to win the prime minister with St George in 1956 under coach Norm Tipping, and also played on the side of the final grand final of 1953 which was runner-up. Injury limited his career, and he retired in 1959.
Lees is a prolific goalscorer, his best performance possible on 24 July 1954 in a first-class club match against North Sydney Bears at the Sydney Cricket Ground when he scored 5 tries in the match.
Merv Lees represented New South Wales on four occasions between 1954-1955 which included the famous 'Abandoned Game' against the English tour team on 10 July 1954 at S.C.G.
A newspaper article in St. Petersburg. George and Sutherland Shire Leader in 2012 about 80th birthday Merv Lees says she is still in good health and still has many happy memories of her playing career for St. George Dragons and NSW. Lees was an acive member of the Men Of League Foundation during his final years.
