Legarda Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Sampaloc in Manila City. Built in 1922, the school is renowned for its premier school building that has successfully defended its pre-war architecture, making it the oldest school building in Manila.

The school was built on land donated by the heirs of Benito Legarda, a legislator and a prominent cabinet member of the First Philippine Republic who later became the first Philippine Resident Commissioner during the colonial period of America. In his honor, the school where the school is named.
Andres Luna de San Pedro, architect of son painter Juan Luna, designed the main school building. It's a landmark that stands out in an area with a unique Victorian architectural style that evokes a sense of grandeur.
The first principal is Andrea Vitan Arce, a noted educator and writer. The school also received an initial difference to become a model school in 1924.
During the Japanese Occupation in World War II, Japanese troops used the school as barracks. After surviving the war, it was later released by the Americans during the Battle of Manila, after which it became the headquarters of the 1st Cavalry Division as well as becoming the 29th Evacuation Hospital for wounded American soldiers. The Philippine Army also made the school a base for a short time.
Additional school buildings were built in the school yard to accommodate a growing student population but the original structure has been preserved as a historic heritage structure cited by the Philippine Department of Education and National History Commission.
