Club
Norberg played his club with the famous Blackrock club in Cork. He enjoyed some success at an underage level before winning his first county senior championship title in 1971. It started a great success for the club, as 'the Rockies' then turned the county victory into a Munster club title and an Irish club's All- Title. In 1973 Norberg won a second county medal with Blackrock. Once again this victory was changed to the next Munster and All-Ireland club award. The success continued in 1975 with Norberg winning the third set of districts and a provincial award with his club. 'The Rockies' narrowly missed their third All-Ireland title after a defeat by James Stephens of Kilkenny. A fourth county medal followed for Norberg in 1978, however, he missed the victories of Munster and the All-Ireland club. He won his fifth county medal in 1979 and then collected his fourth Munster club title.
Small & amp; under 21 years
Norberg first became famous on the inter-county scene as a member of Cork's minor team in 1966. That year he enjoyed his first success when he earned the Munster title following a 6-7 to 2-8 defeat of Galway. Cork then face Wexford in the All-Ireland final. After a 6-7 draw in a row, the Norberg team narrowly lost in replays with a score of 4-1 to 1-8.
Two years later in 1968, Norberg was a key member of the Joint U-21 team. He got the Munster title in that class after losing 4-10 to 1-13 from Tipperary. The final appearance of the All-Ireland followed immediately with Kilkenny giving the opposition. Follow the entertaining who finally saw Cork win 2-18 to 3-9. It was All-Ireland under 21 titles for Norberg.
In 1969 Norberg still qualified for classes under 21 years old. He added a second Munster title to his collection that year before then lining up in the second consecutive All-Ireland final. Wexford is an opponent and after a high scoring game, Cork emerged victorious with 5-13 to 4-7. It was Norberg's second All-Ireland second under 21 years.
Senior
After his appearance in minor and under 21 years, Norberg joined the Cork senior launch team in 1971. He was a non-substitute replacement that year, however, Cork enjoyed little success in the championship.
In 1972, Norberg, though never played, was appointed captain of Cork. After guiding his team to the National Hurling League title, Norberg then lined up in his first Munster final. Clare was an opponent and victory came when Cork recorded a big win 6-18 to 2-8. It was Munster Norberg's first winner's medal. This game is not without incident because Norberg suffered a knee injury in the game and for a while it seems the season is over. He missed Cork's next victory over London in the All-Ireland semi-finals, however, he recovered in time to lead his side against Kilkenny in the All-Ireland final. As time went on, Cork sailed to victory and lead 'Cat' with eight points. Norberg had to be replaced during the game, however, the victory seemed certain. A Kilkenny kick back saw the team level with Cork and scored seven points further without replying to capture a 3-24 to 5-11 win. It was a big blow for the Cork team that seemed destined for victory.
Norberg was relegated to the substitute bench 'back in 1973 before leaving the inter-county set-up at the end of the year.
