Venkatagiri Raja High School

A school article has been created Venkatagiri Raja High School. A lot of work is needed. I feel we can delete unsourced content after "History" section. Kindly share your opinion. --Titodutta (talk) 20:53, 24 March 2018 (UTC)

Kamlakar Singh

Could someone who is familiar with the politics of Uttar Pradesh please take a look at the article on Kamlakar Singh (born 21 June 1967), popularly known as Lambardar? There are several claims in the article that are not supported by references. Eastmain (talk o contribs) 18:42, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

@Titodutta:--That's a blatant hoax.Tagged for G3.~ Winged BladesGodric 08:45, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
For last 15 minutes I was looking for references. Yes, I also feel it is hoax. Thanks. --Titodutta (talk) 08:48, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
Art-hoax.Used the references from and about Raghuraj Pratap Singh, manipulating the displayed titles, in the ref-framework, to evade immediate scrutiny.Ha! ~ Winged BladesGodric 08:50, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
And see this.Sigh....~ Winged BladesGodric 08:53, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
  • This was partially copied from Raja Bhaiya, including refs which were retitled, so a clear cut hoax and I've deleted as such and also blocked a sock account of the (blocked) original hoaxer -- adding dubious pictures, there's still some nonsense left over at Commons though. --SpacemanSpiff 10:11, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

British Raj

Indians, born before 1947: is it correct to state their citizenship was British Raj? We have seen changes on Wikipedia, and a large number of recent changes on Wikidata. Here we have a more active community, thanks in advance. --Titodutta (talk) 08:28, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

  • Earlier consensus (I can't figure out where) was to use [[Presidencies and provinces of British India|British Indian]] for all those belonging to the British Raj. RP or Dwai might know better as I think this consensus happened before I started editing here, and has been accepted practice ever since. --SpacemanSpiff 10:18, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
  • Wikidata can form its own consensus. This project has no control over that one. It's another reason to resist attempts to integrate the two projects, though, which seems often to be happening in a rather subtle sort of way. If Wikidata want to use English Wikipedia's info then that is up to them but there is no reason why English Wikipedia should use their data. As for the specific point, I think SpacemanSpiff is correct. - Sitush (talk) 10:35, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
  • I would agree, although strictly speaking directly ruled British India only included around 72% of the population in 1947, the rest living in the Princely states, with British Raj covering both. But much of the world won't understand the latter. Johnbod (talk) 16:03, 4 April 2018 (UTC)
  • @Titodutta:, British Indian passport was there and this document is the proof of citizenship for the people from British Raj. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Ram Rahim or Singh?

Hi all, could use some guidance re: these edits, where an editor changed all of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh's Singhs to Ram Rahims. Any thoughts? Would this be appropriate? Indian name rules are not my speciality. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:38, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

  • Hello User:Cyphoidbomb, per MOS:SURNAME, it should be "Singh". --Titodutta (talk) 00:25, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
@Titodutta: Thanks. I wasn't sure if there were unconventional exceptions here like there are for patronyms. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:33, 9 April 2018 (UTC)

Suraiya

This is a huge article and is a mix of a hagiography and a fan site. It needs serious attention but after reading through a fair bit I'm not even sure how to approach it, I've left a similar note on the talk page where I hope anyone interested can discuss and cull/clean up. cheers. --SpacemanSpiff 11:51, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
